Teatr HoM

"In fairy tales, true tales lie asleep,

The Water of Life does not exist,

Yet it’s always worth the quest.

My name is Jakub Kabus. I have been a mime actor since the age of sixteen. In 2014, after a decade of wandering as a mercenary through foreign theatres, I gathered my own troupe.

My roots are in classical mime theatre — that’s how the HoM Theatre began. In the early days, our work was shaped by disciplined movement and traditional stage compositions. With time, we took the HoM Theatre to the streets. We adapted our earlier performances for the new environment, and new ones were created as large-scale street shows.

I love outdoor theatre — I love watching it, and I love creating it. I love being able to step into the audience, to draw them into my work. To break down barriers and distance, to let them feel like they’re part of the creation. There’s no curtain, no lights separating the worlds here. The audience in an open space is a mix of those who came prepared and those who just happen to pass by — people watching from their windows or balconies, or stopping for a moment on their way home with bags of shopping. Some just want to be swept away by the story; others bring the knowledge, experience, and sensitivity to look for its deeper layers. I try to tell stories that can move people, make them laugh, and maybe even make them think.
